Celebrating Lent as Creatures of Earth

Celebrating Lent as Creatures of Earth

with Diarmuid O’Murchu

Diarmuid O’Murchu

Traditionally, Lent has been associated with the call to personal conversion, focussed on the ultimate goal of personal salvation. The new cosmic and ecological awareness of our time informs us that that our personal identity is deeply interwoven with creation. As Earthlings, we can’t save ourselves unless we are simultaneously working for the healing and restoration of God's creation. Amid the current pandemic, we also know that our own reckless interference in the natural world contributes to the spread of such viruses. For this year, more than any other, we need an Ash Wednesday ritual to challenge and inspire us to become more responsible and creative Earthlings. Our time together will include an Ash Wednesday ritual.

Father Diarmuid O’Murchu is a member of the Sacred Heart Missionary Order, and a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin Ireland, is asocial psychologist most of whose working life has been in social ministry, predominantly in London, UK. As a workshop leader and group facilitator he has worked in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, The Philippines, Thailand, India, Peru and in several African countries, facilitating programmes on Adult Faith Development. His best known books include Quantum Theology, Reclaiming Spirituality, Evolutionary Faith, Catching Up with Jesus, The Transformation of Desire, Adult Faith, Ancestral Grace, Jesus in the Power of Poetry, Incarnation and many more. www.diarmuidomurchu.com

FAQs

  • How many people per class?

While we can accomodate as many attendees as needed in our online seminars, some seminars are limited in numbers due to facilitator / speaker requests. Where numbers are larger than normal, breakout groups may be created to allow for small group discussion and exercises.

  • How do I pay?

Links are provided to the Shopping Cart / Payment Gateways on the Course page.

  • Can I view a class on my phone?

As we use Zoom Conferencing software, most recent Smartphones allow for Zoom Streaming to cell phones. If you would prefer to call in via non-video access, Zoom links include call in phone numbers.
