Dennis Danielson is emeritus professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures at the University of British Columbia. He has a DPhil Studies (English and Philosophy) Oxford University and a PhD (English) Stanford University. His anthology The Book of the Cosmos: Imagining the Universe from Heraclitus to Hawking, was short-listed for the Canadian Science Writers Association "Science and Society" Book Award, 2000, and named to the Amazon.com Editor's Choice Top Ten Books on Science for the year 2000.
Danielson’s research has focused on the history of science, especially the history of Copernicanism. While trying to grasp scientific developments accurately, he has examined them in their historical, philosophical, and literary (including narrative) contexts. He is also the author of The First Copernican: Georg Joachim Rheticus and the Rise of the Copernican Revolution, 2006.
Maggie Ziegler first encountered the experiential processes that eco-philosopher and activist Joanna Macy created for accessing our joy and pain for our world and for transforming our relationship to life in the 1980’s and began integrating these ideas and activities into her work. Since 2000 she has been privileged to attend workshops and trainings with Joanna and has been regularly co-facilitating retreats and workshops. Maggie has over thirty-five years’ experience as a psychotherapist and educator specializing in abuse and trauma. She is a skilled facilitator whose experience includes therapy and support groups for diverse communities, conflict resolution sessions, strategic planning and visioning for non-profit and educational organizations. She has delivered training in facilitation and group processes in a range of setting.
Maggie has a long history of participating in social justice and environmental justice organizations at both the local and international level. Over the past decade she was involved in peace-making projects in the Central African Republic and in Rwanda, where she lived for several years.
